Well, now that I’ve built up a bit of a readership, I think I’ll try fishing a bit. I’ve got a problem I’d like to work on, but part of the theory as I understand it is “magic” to me, so I can’t really figure how to do what I want with it.

The main-line exposition should be accessible to the “Generally Interested Lay Audience”, as long as you trace the links back towards the basics. I’m in the process of tweaking some aspects of the site to make it easier to refer back to older topics, so try to make the best of it for now.

I’m interested in the problem, at the moment I am a post-doc in non-commutative algebra and representation theory and I know a bit about character varieties (mainly of SL_2(Z) and of torus knot groups) moreover I have a keen interest in knot theory from the time I was an undergraduate.
